SMOKEY MOUNTAIN RECORDS SONG FOR JAPAN

Smokey Mountain re-united for the first time in 15 years to record a new song for Japan earthquake relief. All Smokey Mountain members joined the recording; Jayson Angangan, James Coronel, Geneva Cruz, Anna Fegi, Jeffery Hidalgo, Tony Lambino, Shar Santos and Chedi Vergara. The group has strong ties to Japan and some members lived in Tokyo during the peak of their popularity in the early 1990's.

Ryan Cayabyab was inspired to compose the new Smokey Mountain song, "I FEEL WHAT YOU FEEL", after attending a live in-person interview of Yoko Ono at the SXSW Music Festival on March 18, 2011 in Austin, Texas. "Yoko Ono spoke about the Japan earthquake and explained we are like one body, connected to Earth, and we can feel any part that feels pain," Ryan said. The lyrics are written in haiku, a form of Japanese poetry.

Chedi, Geneva, James, Jayson and Jeffrey were able to record in Manila, but Anna, Shar and Tony were in USA and so to complete the recording quickly studios were used simultaneously in Manila, Fort Lauderdale, Las Vegas and Washington D.C.

All proceeds from the song will be donated to Japanese Red Cross and similar organizations providing Japan earthquake relief.
